The first time you start it, the page downloads a language model into your browser. After that the model runs on your own machine and the replies are produced there.

There is no server answering for you, no account and no API key. Your messages are never sent anywhere.

A language model is a large file of numbers. The smallest one here is about 270 MB, and the largest about 2.3 GB.

A recent Chrome, Edge or Safari on a machine with graphics acceleration gives the fastest replies. Firefox support for the graphics path is still arriving.

A desktop or a recent tablet handles the larger models comfortably. Older machines fall back to processor-only mode automatically.

Yes. On Android and desktop Chrome or Edge an “Install this as an app” button appears under the chat. On an iPhone or iPad, use Safari's Share button and choose Add to Home Screen.

It gets its own icon and opens without browser tabs. The page itself is cached, so it opens even without a connection, and a model you have already downloaded still works offline.

It is the same site, not a store app. Nothing extra is installed on your device and nothing is sent anywhere.

Each visitor who starts the demo pulls several hundred megabytes. The check keeps automated traffic from doing that repeatedly.

It is a single click for a person, and it happens before anything downloads.

Reload the page and try once more. Ad blockers, strict privacy modes and blocked third-party scripts are the usual cause.

Your browser could not reach the graphics chip, so the page uses the main processor instead. Older laptops, older iPads and some locked-down browsers land here.

The processor does the same arithmetic without the parallel hardware built for it, so expect a few words per second rather than a flowing reply.

Processor mode offers two very small models. It defaults to the lighter one, about 270 MB, so the download and the start-up wait stay short; a slightly larger 380 MB option gives somewhat better answers.

In processor mode, yes: once the device check passes, the download starts quietly in the background so the model is ready sooner. It is skipped on a mobile-data connection, when you are offline, and when the model is already saved here.

No. The page picks the fastest path your browser can actually use, and tells you which one it chose before you start.

No web page can reach the Neural Engine — it is reserved for installed apps. The graphics chip is the fastest route a browser has.
